INDEPENDENT PUBLISHING WITH EX LIBRIS

EX LIBRIS was a magazine in newsletter format – and a love letter to independent publishing. Over 18 issues, EX LIBRIS covered a wide range of topics, from the Dark Ages to contemporary performance art. With over 1,000 subscribers and contributors including Michèle Lamy, Kristina Nagel, Felix Burmeister, Idea Books, Emma Rosenzweig, and Christian Werner, EX LIBRIS maintained a resolutely high-brow tone while never taking itself too seriously.

WIDE-RANGING YET TIGHTLY EDITED

Whether comparing Dark Ages serfdom to the digital economy, discussing tennis court design with artists Elmgreen & Dragset, or providing an in-depth exploration of how trends shape fashion, EX LIBRIS took a granular approach to its topics, offering readers new perspectives on a diverse range of subjects.

HIGH-LOW AESTHETICS AND A CHEEKY TONE

While publishing contributions from some of the best creatives in their field, EX LIBRIS blended a clean, custom layout with lo-fi aesthetics, elevating newsletter design to new heights. Alongside the editorial’s cheeky tone-of-voice, the resulting newsletter was very much ahead of its time.
